Teaching EssentialsLearn Local,
Wherever You Are
During this immersive and interactive workshop, the tried-n-true ways we do traditional field trips will be turned inside out. And the widely accepted methods for place-based learning will be revamped. Enter “Learn Local, Wherever You Are”, a holistic and heartfelt approach.
3P Learning: Problem, Project, Place-Based has been pushed out in public schools with emphasis on producing a product to be shared with the public. In contrast, Learn Local offers a unique and complimentary framework that emphasizes the process.
Why do our places matter? How do we develop a personal sense of place? What are the ways we can take action at the local level? Who can help us co-labor to create momentum?
Get inspired to rethink the way you’ve been connecting people to place and explore new teaching theory and best practices based on the Learn Local model. Receive a user-friendly Learn Local field guide that will provide a usable framework that easily can be localized to any place on the map.
Wherever you are, you will gain go-to tools to ensure place is not a backdrop or sidenote but instead central to place-based learning experiences.
